Interested in joining some of the most successful businesses in the sporting goods industry?

Membership in the National Sporting Goods Association is restricted to a select group of companies that meet the association’s membership criteria; in general, those companies that retail sporting goods products or are involved in the manufacturing and/or distribution.  In addition, companies which provide products and services to retailers or are interested in NSGA research reports are also eligible to join as Industry Associates. Read about our membership categories below to learn how we can serve your needs best!
The National Sporting Goods Association has worked on behalf of retailers since our founders disputed an unjust sporting goods tax in 1927. Today, NSGA continues to advocate on behalf of retailing in the sporting goods industry and supports industry efforts to increase sports participation. Whether a company with multiple storefront locations or an online store, retailer members receive benchmark data in the NSGA Cost of Doing Business Survey report, industry research, education, and cost-saving services necessary to drive sales, profits and customer loyalty.
Team/institutional dealers may have a retail store or showroom, but their business is done primarily through salespeople calling on coaches and athletic directors of schools. Team dealers sell uniforms and equipment used by school sports teams as well as youth and adult recreational league teams, and elite youth travel teams. NSGA represents its members at meetings of youth sport governing bodies when pending rules changes are discussed and communicates these changes to our members through the Team Line-Up e-newsletter.
Many retailers and dealers in the sporting goods industry face the challenge of meeting high volume order requirements of manufacturers.  We have responded to their needs by creating the NSGA Wholesalers Directory.  Wholesaler members can include contact information, website links, product photographs, and order/shipping requirements.  In addition, find manufacturers in the NSGA Sporting Goods Buying Guide, stay up-to-date on industry trends and news, and save money by participating in our cost-saving services.
Make connections by requesting your FREE mailing list of full-line retailers and/or team dealers.  In addition, receive substantial discounts on research reports, advertising in the NSGA Magazine, and be the first to take advantage of promotional opportunities at the NSGA Annual Management Conference & Team Dealer Summit.

Are you an independent sales agent or manufacturer’s representative?

To be eligible for NSGA Sales Agent Membership, an independent company must have a contractual arrangement with a sporting goods manufacturer to sell or distribute products within a given territory in exchange for a commission computed as a percentage of sales generated.
