MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS (November 28, 2018) - With the 2018 holiday season well underway, NSGA has been keeping note of the holiday sales results released by multiple retail organizations.
The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) announced that an estimated 151 million people visited a mall or shopping center over Thanksgiving Weekend. ICSC also stated retailers with both a physical and online presence captured 88 percent of spending on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), an estimated 89 million people shopped both online and in stores, up nearly 40 percent from last year. This multichannel shopper segment accounted for 54 percent of total shoppers, more than the 21 percent who did in-store only shopping and the 25 percent who chose to only shop online.
NSGA will send out another update on the performance of the entire 2018 holiday season once results are released in January.
