Feb. 9, 2015 - Bob Wood, who was a major supporter of the sporting goods industry and sales agents, passed away on Feb. 8 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He started Bob Wood & Associates in Dallas, Texas in 1985 and represented many brands, including adidas, Badger, Fila, Gatorade, Johnson & Johnson, Nokona, Spalding and Under Armour. He also developed a loyal customer base of retailers, high schools and professional teams.
Wood also inducted into the Sporting Goods Agents Association Hall of Fame in 2000 and served on NSGA's Sporting Goods Industry Hall of Fame Committee. He gave the introductory speech for Don Lucas of Luke's Locker at the 2012 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner.
Wood was survived by his wife of 39 years, Pat, his son Grant and daughter Sandy and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held for Wood at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13 in the Sanctuary of Highland Park United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggested contributions to the Texas Tech Red Raiders Club, the Pancreatic Center Action Network (www.pancan.org), the Texas Sports Hall of Fame or the Buckner Children's Home (www.buckner.org).
