Adidas Adizero 8.0 SK Football Shoe Ruled Noncompliant by NFHS

Rules • October 1, 2019

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (October 1, 2019) –
The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) ruled the Adidas Adizero 8.0 SK White Football Spikes (CG6534) is noncompliant with 2019 NFHS Football Rules and will not be permitted for use in games using NFHS Football Rules. Adidas was notified of the decision in an email on September 30, according to NFHS.

After reviewing the shoe, the NFHS determined the “spikes” attached to the top and side of the shoe are a safety issue. NFHS said the spikes are very hard and very abrasive to the touch and sharp at the point and therefore do not comply with the current 2019 NFHS Football Rules.

The NFHS ruling applies only to the Adizero 8.0 SK White Football Spikes and not all the other football shoes listed under Adizero. NFHS member state associations have been informed of this ruling to share with their member schools and game officials.
