Russell Athletic and Little League Baseball announced new uniform combinations for the 2014 LIttle League World Series. They were created and designed specifically to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Little League.
Russell and Little League Baseball and Softball have had a relationship for more than 30 years. The uniforms will feature the LIttle League motto "Character, Courage and Loyalty," designed into the fabric of the uniform, including the jersey sleeve and the three-quarter length sleeve performance undershirt. There will be 16 total new uniforms - eight for the U.S. regions and eight for International regions.
"Russell Athletic is extremely proud of these jerseys and what they represent," said Russell Athletic Senior Vice President and General Manager Robby Davis. "These players deserve the best uniforms as they play at the highest level. We value our partnership with Little League immensely and congratulate them on an incredible 75 years."
Each team will represent their region with a unique uniform color combination. All designs and decorations have been fully printed into the jersey, eliminating the bulk associated with twill numbers and lettering. The jersey material is a lightweight and breathable stretch fabric which is also used by several college and minor league baseball teams around the country. This exclusive style will be available to purchase through Russell Athletic for the 2015 season.
"The Little League mission of building 'Character, Courage and Loyalty' has been at the heart of the organization since its inception in 1939," said Liz DiLullo Brown, Little League Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships. "Thanks to the support from Russell Athletic, LIttle League is excited that these tenets of the organization will be featured so prominently on the new Russell uniforms of the Little Leaguers participating in the 2014 Little League Baseball World Series, as we celebrate our 75th anniversary."
The 68th Little League Baseball World Series begins Aug. 14 in South Williamsport, Pa., and will culminate a year-long celebration of the 75th anniversary of Little League. The championship game is scheduled at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 24 and will air on ABC.
